Your Choir Needs You
It has become obvious in recent years, particularly to our regular followers, that choir numbers have been decreasing at a steady rate and the need to recruit is becoming critical. Despite many requests through radio, press, websites and various other channels, sad to say, the response has been very disappointing. This is a shame since much has been publicised about the many health benefits that come from joining a choir. There are always many excuses thrown up for not joining a choir but the most common one is that, men in particular, don’t believe they are good enough. The answer of course is how do you know if you don’t try. Many of the present members of the Apollo came along to practice night with the same doubts and have never regretted taking that chance and furthermore, why is it that ladies choirs seem to have no trouble recruiting new members?. (Since the well publicised Military Wives choir began their journey under the direction of Gareth Malone, another 70 Military Wives choirs are now up and running). So come on men take up the challenge and come and join us and bring your friends with you. You don’t have to read music, there are no formal auditions and the members are a great bunch of men.
We meet every Monday for rehearsals at St Barnabas Church in Middlesbrough
